Choosing to journey with Celtic Escape will support community projects and conservation efforts in the destinations we operate in.

Celtic Escape and our sister company Highland Guiding are committed to contributing 5% of our net profits to community projects and conservation organisations each year. At the end of each financial year we will consider which projects and organisations to contribute to. This will ensure the money is going to causes that we believe will benefit conservation efforts and support our local communities in meaningful ways.

Local Guides

We only use local guides. This helps to ensure that the money you spend on your Celtic Escape journey supports the guides who live and work in the destinations we offer. It also means you get the benefit of true local knowledge and cultural insight.

Leave No Trace

We work to the principles of Leave No Trace. Simply put this means we aim to take away only memories and leave behind only footprints. We endeavour to leave locations as we found them, making as little physical impact on the destination as possible. To find out more about the 7 core principles of Leave No Trace, click here.

Education Through Travel

Our local guides are passionate about what they do and they love to share their passion with our travelers. On your Celtic Escape journey you can expect to come away with a much broader knowledge of the history, culture and the natural environment of the areas you visit. We believe that having a better understanding of the destination encourages our travelers to respect and engage with our unique culture and environment.

Respecting Wildlife

Wildlife encounters will be enjoyed at a safe distance, to prevent disturbance to the animal.  We only work with suppliers and guides who will always be respectful to wildlife and livestock, on land and at sea. We encourage our travelers to show wildlife the same respect.

Slower Travel

On a Celtic Escape journey we do not try to cram in as much as possible, instead we encourage you to slow down and get under the skin of the destination. We always recommend a minimum of 2 nights in each location, but 3 or 4 nights is better. Unlike a standard sightseeing tour we won’t drive around ticking off as many honeypot sights as possible in one day. We’ll take our time, promoting an environment of discovery, inspiration and relaxation; isn’t that what vacations should be about?

Carbon Reduction

We work with suppliers and local operators who are committed to reducing their carbon emissions. While using electric vehicles has proven to be challenging due to lack of infrastructure in rural locations, we endeavour to use electric vehicles when possible.

Locally Owned Suppliers

Where possible we work with locally owned and independent accommodations and activity suppliers, ensuring that your spend stays in the local communities as much as possible.

No Coach Tours, No Cruises, No Large Groups

We believe that running intimate journeys for private travellers and small groups helps to ensure that more money per head is retained in local communities. Small numbers also means a reduction in the negative impact on the localities, which in some cases may suffer from over tourism. 

We believe that tourism can be a force for good by bringing much needed tourism spend into the communities we work in, provided it is done in a sustainable and sensitive way.
